About Julevu

I am Frida – designer, maker, and storyteller behind Julevu.

My journey with Sami bracelets is rooted in tradition and guided by craftsmanship. My mother began creating these timeless pieces in 1981 and passed on her knowledge to me. I started handcrafting our own bracelets in 2005 – braiding pewter thread and stitching each piece by hand.

After years of living and working abroad, I returned to my roots near Luleå in Swedish Lapland. Here, surrounded by silence, shifting seasons, and natural beauty, I find endless inspiration for our designs.

At Julevu, we create both classic and contemporary bracelets – always with a deep respect for materials, tradition, and the landscape around us. Whenever possible, we source locally: reindeer leather, antler buttons, and spun pewter thread. We also care about the environment and often reuse packaging materials to reduce waste.

Each bracelet is made with care – slowly, by hand – and meant to be worn for years to come.

The name Julevu comes from the name of our home town Luleå in the local Sami dialect (Lulesami). We are based in what is the old town of Luleå, Gammelstad Kyrkstad. Gammelstad Church Town, a UNESCO World heritage site.
