ARE THE BRACELETS HANDMADE?

Yes, all our bracelets are handmade. The braids and embroidery are made by hand and we sew by hand. We have over 30 years of experience in making Sami bracelets and our main focus is on quality workmanship and materials. There are no machines used for sewing or braiding and we try to source materials as locally as possible.

WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?

We are located in Gammelstad Church Town just outside of Luleå in the North of Sweden (1000km/600miles north of Stockholm). Approximately 150km/90miles south of the Arctic Circle by the Bay of Bothnia. Gammelstad Church Town is a UN world heritage site with a medieval church surrounded by over 500 small wooden cottages.

 WHAT MATERIALS DO YOU USE?

The main body of the bracelet is made from Reindeer Leather. For braids we use a spun pewter wire, with a 4% silver content. Where pearls are used they consist of Sterling Silver. Buttons for closure are made from shed Reindeer antlers, and are all unique and made one by one.

WHAT IS SO SPECIAL WITH YOUR BRACELETS?

For starters our bracelets are all handmade from scratch. Our bracelets pick up on a long tradition in Lapland of using spun pewter and silver wire to create ornamental pieces of clothing and jewellery. The indigenous Sami of northernmost Scandinavia use metal embroidery for their festive clothing to this day.

Also, we use Reindeer Leather for our bracelets, an environmentally sound leather and a leather that helps to keep a centuries, if not millennia old tradition of herding Reindeer in Lapland alive.

Reindeer (Rangifer tarandus) have been herded in northern Scandinavia for hundreds if not thousands of years by the indigenous Sami people (there are archeological finds from Northern Finland that show evidence for Reindeer domestication 4000 years ago). The Reindeer are semi-domesticated and roam freely in the vast wilderness of Lapland only to be moved between areas of summer and winter pastures.

HOW DO WE PICK THE RIGHT SIZE?

Measure your wrist and add around 1-1.5 cm. Medium size for women is 17,5 cm and 19,5 cm for men. If you order a wide bracelet you might add up to 2 cm.

We do not include the loop hole in our measurement. Since the bracelet is made out of leather, it might stretch a bit once worn.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS

After purchase it might be a good idea to button and unbutton the loop hole a few times to make it easier to close. The bracelet will form itself after your wrist with use and will get easier to put on after a few days. Since it is made out of leather, please take off when in contact with water. The pewter will get a lovely shine, and it will get more and more beautiful once worn.

I HAVE ORDERED THE WRONG SIZE, CAN I CHANGE?

As long as your bracelet is unused we accept returns and can assist you with choosing the correct size. Please send us an email and we will help you with your return.
